FavBackup - Backup Your Browser Data Easily

FavBackup: A Look at the Latest Features and Ribbon UI
Users who have previously utilized FavBackup will find much to appreciate in this updated version. Numerous enhancements have been incorporated, and this article provides a detailed examination of the newest release.
For reference, a prior review of FavBackup can be found here. This release offers compatibility with a wide range of browsers, including Internet Explorer (6 - 8), Mozilla Firefox (2 - 3.6), Opera (9 - 10), Safari (3 - 4), Google Chrome (1 - 4), and Flock (2.0 - 2.5).
Setup Process
Maintaining its portability, FavBackup requires only that the executable file be placed within a suitable directory. A shortcut can then be created for easy access, and the application is ready for use.
A significant visual change is the adoption of the Microsoft Ribbon interface for the FavBackup UI. This provides access to expanded backup and restore functionalities, allowing users to focus on backing up individual browsers or all of them simultaneously.
The "Backup, Restore, Full Backup, & Full Restore Menus" function identically, as illustrated in the accompanying screenshot. Therefore, only the newly introduced menus are showcased here.
The "Convert Opera Profile Menu" allows for specific Opera profile conversions.
Users can select a theme that best suits their preferences.
The "Help Menu" is currently streamlined, directing users to an online help webpage.
Creating a Backup
The following example demonstrates backing up a portable browser, configured on a Vista system.
Initiate the backup process by selecting the "Backup Ribbon Menu" and choosing the desired browser.
Specify the location where the backup file should be saved.
When backing up a portable browser, it’s necessary to browse for the correct "Profile Folder". After locating the profile, click "Finish" to begin the backup.
Previous versions generated multiple files; however, the current release consolidates all information into a single, easily manageable and transferable file.
Restoring the Backup
The restoration process was tested on a freshly installed browser within a virtual Windows 7 environment, with only the homepage modified.
To initiate restoration, select the "Restore Ribbon Menu" and choose the corresponding browser. Browse to the location of the backup file; FavBackup will automatically detect it and display it. Since the restoration was performed on a standard browser installation, no further profile browsing was required. Click "Next".
Upon completion of the restore process, simply click "Finish".
The End Result
The two browsers – one on the Vista system and the other within the VMware Player window – are shown side-by-side.
Conclusion
Previous iterations of FavBackup provided effective browser profile backup and restoration. The inclusion of new features in this release further enhances its capabilities.
