Extra Crunch Live: Q&A with Byron Deeter of Bessemer

Byron Deeter has a distinguished investment history, including successful ventures with companies like Twilio, DocuSign, Box, Canva, Intercom, and SendGrid, among others. Recognized as a leading authority on SaaS and cloud technologies, Alex Wilhelm and I are delighted to host a live question-and-answer session with Deeter on the upcoming installment of Extra Crunch Live.

Deeter is a co-author of Bessemer Venture Partners’ influential “10 Laws of Cloud Computing” and the yearly “State of the Cloud” report. He also spearheaded the creation of the Bessemer Forbes Cloud 100 and currently hosts Bessemer’s podcast, “Cloud Giants.” His deep understanding of the cloud computing landscape is truly exceptional.

The shift towards cloud-based solutions was already well underway prior to the pandemic, but the recent global events have significantly accelerated this trend. As businesses in nearly all sectors adopt cloud technologies and startups compete for market share, Deeter offers a valuable insight into the strategies for achieving success in this dynamic environment.

During our conversation, we will explore Deeter’s criteria for evaluating SaaS and cloud startups, considering both qualitative aspects like founder characteristics and quantitative metrics. We will also discuss his predictions for emerging trends in the coming year.

I plan to also inquire about Deeter’s investment in Team SoloMid, as I am particularly interested in discussing esports, especially given that this investment represents a somewhat unique opportunity within Deeter’s overall portfolio.
