Elon Musk Still Calls X 'Twitter' - A Common Mistake

The Lingering Legacy of the Twitter Name
It's understandable if you still instinctively call X by its previous moniker, Twitter. This is a common occurrence, even for Elon Musk himself, the individual responsible for rebranding Twitter as X.
Despite initiating the name change, Musk occasionally slips up and refers to the social media platform he leads as Twitter.
“Twitter implemented a greater number of functionalities with a smaller team,” Musk stated in a post on X this Monday.
Response to DOGE and Federal Workforce Discussions
The owner of X was replying to another user who commended DOGE – the advisory group focused on governmental efficiency, which Musk chairs – for its initiatives to reduce the size of the federal workforce.
Over the weekend, Musk requested that federal employees submit a summary of their accomplishments from the prior week by Monday, with potential job security implications for non-compliance.
Subsequently, a government representative clarified that these performance reports were, in fact, voluntary.
The responding account remarked, “This approach proved effective at Twitter.”
A Recurring Pattern
This isn't an isolated incident of Musk using the former name, Twitter, for X. It is anticipated that such instances will continue to occur in the future.
The continued use of the name "Twitter" highlights the strong brand recognition and ingrained habits associated with the platform's previous identity.
