Epic Games Store Expands to Mobile with Third-Party Titles

Epic Games Expands Mobile App Store with Third-Party Titles
Epic Games is now incorporating games from developers beyond its own studio into its mobile application marketplace. A key component of this expansion involves financial assistance to developers regarding iOS fees.
Financial Support for Developers
The company is initiating a program to offer games at no cost to users and will assume responsibility for all fees incurred by participating developers on iOS and iPadOS platforms.
This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with Apple’s platform policies, fostering a more accessible environment for game distribution.
Monthly Free Game Releases
Epic plans to introduce a selection of new free games within its store on a monthly basis.
These games will be accessible globally on Android devices and, specifically within the European Union, on iOS devices as well.
Initial Launch and Expansion
The mobile store initially debuted in August, featuring Epic’s own popular titles such as Fortnite and Rocket League.
This current move represents the first phase of broadening the store’s catalog to include mobile games developed by external studios.
Significant Investment in Digital Storefront
Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games, has stated that the company has invested over $1 billion into its digital storefront.
This substantial investment underscores Epic’s commitment to building a competitive and developer-friendly ecosystem within the gaming industry.
