edgybees raises $9.5m series a for its aerial video augmentation service

Edgybees Secures $9.5 Million Series A Funding
Edgybees, a provider of real-time aerial video geotagging and augmentation solutions for businesses, first responders, and military personnel, has announced the completion of a $9.5 million Series A funding round.
This investment arrives approximately two years following the company’s initial $5.5 million seed round.
Investment Details
Seraphim Capital, a firm specializing in space technology investments, spearheaded the new funding round.
Additional investors included Refinery Ventures, LG Technology Ventures, and Kodem Growth. Existing investors, such as OurCrowd, 8VC, Verizon Ventures, and Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, also participated in this round.
Company Vision and Future Plans
“Our core objective is to positively impact human outcomes during critical, life-saving operations,” stated Adam Kaplan, co-founder and CEO of Edgybees.
“The support of our new partners will be instrumental in advancing this mission. Their specialized knowledge will enable us to broaden our global reach and foster innovation within the industry. We anticipate significant growth as we address the evolving needs of the defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure sectors.”
Visual Intelligence Platform Capabilities
The company’s Visual Intelligence Platform allows users to easily register and monitor assets within video footage captured by drones, for instance.
A primary application involves assisting first responders in gaining a precise understanding of a developing emergency situation, overlaid on live video from the scene, with real-time tracking of all personnel and resources.
Beyond this, Edgybees has demonstrated diverse applications, including tracking and visualizing sporting events, as well as solutions for insurance and defense industries.
Argus Platform Launch
Approximately one year ago, Edgybees, originally founded in Israel and now headquartered in San Diego, introduced its Argus platform.
Argus simplifies the integration of user-owned drones and other live video platforms with the service’s geo-registration engine.
Investor Perspectives
“Edgybees addresses a significant challenge in spatial computing: accurately interpreting what is being observed through rapidly moving airborne or other video streams,” explained Jon Medved, CEO of OurCrowd.
“They effectively merge the physical and digital realms, aiding first responders in saving lives, enabling cost savings for industrial drone operators, and ensuring mission success for defense teams.”
Mark Boggett, managing partner and CEO of Seraphim, likened Edgybees to a fusion of Google Maps and live video feeds.
“Their geo-referencing technology represents a groundbreaking advancement, delivering a new level of insight and usability to video streams originating from space, drones, or body-worn cameras. We are enthusiastic about Edgybees, recognizing its potential not only in public safety and defense but also across a broad spectrum of industries.”
The company’s technology provides a crucial link between real-world events and the data derived from aerial video sources.
