edge computing startup edgify secures $6.5m seed from octopus, mangrove and semiconductor

Edgify, a company specializing in artificial intelligence solutions for edge computing, has successfully completed a $6.5 million seed funding round. The investment was led by Octopus Ventures and Mangrove Capital Partners, with participation from a major, but currently undisclosed, semiconductor manufacturer. Sources suggest this company could be either Intel Corp. or Qualcomm Inc.

Edgify’s core innovation empowers “edge devices”—those operating directly at the network’s periphery—to process substantial data volumes, develop AI models on-site, and distribute that knowledge throughout a connected network of comparable devices. This process enhances the capabilities of all devices within the network, supporting applications like computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition, and other AI-driven functionalities.

The applicability of this technology extends to a wide range of products, including MRI scanners, autonomous vehicles, retail checkout systems, and mobile phones—essentially any device equipped with a CPU, GPU, or NPU. Edgify’s solutions are currently deployed in the retail sector, with supermarkets among the early adopters.

According to Ofri Ben-Porat, CEO and co-founder of Edgify, “Edgify enables organizations across all sectors to build and train comprehensive deep learning and machine learning models directly on their edge devices. This eliminates the requirement for data transmission to the cloud and ensures consistently high levels of precision, removing the need for centralized retraining.”

Hans-Jürgen Schmitz, a partner at Mangrove Capital Partners, and a new member of Edgify’s Board, stated: “We anticipate a rapid increase in AI implementation across numerous industries, with Edgify possessing substantial long-term growth potential, particularly in the medical and manufacturing fields.”

Simon King, partner and Deep Tech Investor at Octopus Ventures, commented: “The ever-increasing amount of data generated by our increasingly connected world is driving the growing importance of AI processing at the edge.”

“Edge computing” is widely recognized as a leading area of innovation within the deep tech landscape.
