For applications that are officially supported, PlayOnLinux presents a curated list, and then manages the installation process with a high degree of automation.

Installation

To install using the command line, execute the following:
sudo apt-get install playonlinux
Alternatively, the most recent version can be obtained directly from the PlayOnLinux website. Download the appropriate .deb file designed for Ubuntu and initiate the installation process by double-clicking the downloaded file.
For ongoing updates, a series of four commands, as detailed on the PlayOnLinux website, can be utilized. These commands add the official PlayOnLinux software repository to your system.
Adding the repository ensures that new releases of PlayOnLinux will be presented as available updates within Ubuntu’s Update Manager.
PlayOnLinux leverages Wine as its foundational component. Consequently, the installation process will also incorporate Wine and any other necessary software dependencies.
Initial Setup
After installation is complete, PlayOnLinux can be located within your system's applications menu.

Initiating and Controlling Applications
Following the installation of Windows applications, they become visible within the primary PlayOnLinux interface. These applications can be started either directly from the PlayOnLinux window or through desktop shortcuts that are generated.
The toolbar provides options for managing installed software. Specifically, the Remove or Shortcut buttons facilitate uninstallation of applications or the creation of additional shortcuts.
