The Rise of AI-Powered Enterprise Search and Doti AI's Entry

Organizations are increasingly exploring the potential of Artificial Intelligence to enhance employee productivity, and search functionality represents a logical starting point. A significant challenge for many businesses lies in the fragmentation of data across numerous, unconnected systems. However, the convergence of large language models, retrieval augmented generation (RAG) technologies, and robust enterprise integration services is now simplifying the process of not only enabling search capabilities but also developing tools capable of addressing more intricate queries related to this dispersed data.

Consequently, a competitive landscape is emerging, with both established companies – such as Atlassian with its Rovo offering – and numerous startups vying for market share. Doti AI, a Tel Aviv-based company, is a recent addition to this field, having announced a $7 million seed funding round.

Doti AI's Integration and Proactive Assistance

Doti AI facilitates access to data from a wide array of services, including Confluence, Datadog, GitLab, Jira, Monday, Notion, Slack, Salesforce, and Zendesk. This data is then readily available through a conversational interface within Slack, as well as through a feature called “AutoPilot.”

The AutoPilot function proactively monitors Slack channels and automatically provides responses to questions it is equipped to answer, directly within those channels.

According to Doti’s co-founders, Matan Cohen (CEO) and Opher Hofshi (CPO), this proactive approach is key to rapid adoption within organizations. Employees initially encounter Doti within their familiar Slack environment and subsequently begin utilizing the service for direct, one-on-one interactions.

Cohen and Hofshi initially connected while working at Wix, where Cohen focused on infrastructure and Hofshi led a team of security architects. Hofshi explained that after leaving Wix in 2023, they were initially unsure of their next venture.

Their initial consideration involved continuing in their respective areas of expertise – cybersecurity for Hofshi and infrastructure for Cohen. However, they ultimately identified an enduring challenge: the persistent difficulty of effective enterprise search.

Cohen emphasized that the problem Doti addresses was one they personally experienced at Wix. Successfully resolving this issue, the founders believe, requires both expertise in building integrations and a strong commitment to data security.

The Future of AI Integration in Businesses

“We believe that AI will become an integral component of every individual’s work, every team’s processes, and every company’s operations,” Cohen stated. “The question isn’t whether this will happen, but rather when and how quickly organizations will adapt.”

Doti AI's Flexibility and Customization

The Doti AI team asserts that their solution offers greater flexibility compared to competing offerings. This is due to the platform being designed from the outset to allow businesses to integrate their own large language models and establish customized security protocols.

“We are equipped to deliver a robust solution for enterprises and can adapt to their specific requirements,” Cohen explained. “Organizations can utilize their preferred LLM, choose their cloud provider – AWS, Azure, or GCP – and we can accommodate these choices at the infrastructure level, which is a critical factor for many organizations.”

Funding and Future Outlook

Doti AI’s $7 million seed funding round was spearheaded by F2 Venture Capital, with additional investment from angel investors including Jared Kasner, a general partner at Ineffable Ventures, and Guy Flechter, CEO of Sola Security.
