Doge Staffer Resigns After Racist Posts

Engineer Resigns Following Racist Social Media Posts
A 25-year-old engineer employed by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has resigned from his position. This decision follows reports concerning racist content originating from an X account linked to him, as detailed by The Wall Street Journal.
Marko Elez submitted his resignation after inquiries were made by the WSJ to the White House regarding his association with the account and its subsequently removed posts. The account, active in September 2024, contained statements such as “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity” and “Normalize Indian hate.”
Concerning Posts and Policy Advocacy
Furthermore, the account promoted a “eugenic immigration policy” during the weeks preceding President Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025. These posts have raised significant concerns about the views held by the individual.
According to a report by WIRED, Elez possessed access to confidential federal payment records held by the Treasury Department. Prior to his government service, he was employed by both X and SpaceX, companies owned by Elon Musk, the creator of DOGE.
Security Concerns Regarding DOGE Engineers
DOGE has been deploying young engineers, including Elez, throughout the federal government. Their mission is to enact large-scale restructuring initiatives.
This practice has prompted security concerns due to the level of access these engineers have to highly sensitive data. The potential risks associated with such access are now under scrutiny.
- Key Concern: Access to confidential federal payment records.
- Previous Employment: X and SpaceX, both Elon Musk companies.
- DOGE's Role: Implementing mass restructuring plans across federal agencies.
