Meniga Secures €10 Million in New Funding
Meniga, a London-based fintech company specializing in digital banking technology, has successfully closed a funding round of €10 million.
Investment Details
This funding round was spearheaded by Velocity Capital and Frumtak Ventures. Additional investors included Industrifonden, the U.K. Government’s Future Fund, and current clients such as UniCredit, Swedbank, Groupe BPCE, and Íslandsbanki.
Strategic Allocation of Funds
The newly acquired capital will be strategically allocated to further R&D initiatives. A key focus will be the continued enhancement of green banking products, building upon the existing carbon spending insights functionality.
Furthermore, Meniga intends to strengthen its sales and service teams to meet growing market demands.
Global Presence and Core Solutions
With its headquarters in London, Meniga maintains a global footprint with additional offices located in Reykjavik, Stockholm, Warsaw, Singapore, and Barcelona.
The company’s digital banking solutions empower banks and fintechs to leverage personal finance data for innovation within their online and mobile platforms.
Product Suite Overview
Meniga offers a comprehensive suite of products. These include a software layer designed to integrate a bank’s existing infrastructure with modern APIs.
This facilitates the creation of user-friendly digital banking experiences. The product range encompasses data aggregation technologies, personal and business finance management tools, cash-back rewards programs, and transaction-based carbon insights.
Increased Demand and Recent Launches
Meniga reports a substantial surge in demand for its digital banking products and services over the past year.
This increased demand has resulted in the launch of a total of 18 digital banking solutions across 17 different countries.
The Rise of Sustainable Banking
A significant driver of this demand is the growing consumer emphasis on sustainability and the urgent need to address climate change.
Meniga’s green banking solution, known as “Carbon Insight,” utilizes personal finance data to enable mobile banking customers to monitor and potentially reduce their environmental impact.
Carbon Insight Functionality
The Carbon Insight tool provides users with the ability to:
- Track their estimated carbon footprint over a specified period, categorized by spending.
- Monitor the estimated carbon footprint of individual transactions.
- Compare their overall carbon footprint and spending category footprints with those of other users.
Early Adoption
Íslandsbanki was the first Nordic bank to integrate Meniga’s Carbon Insight solution into its digital banking platform last month.
