Diet ID Wins TechCrunch Detroit Pitch-Off
TechCrunch recently concluded its inaugural pitch competition in Detroit, and Diet ID emerged as the victor. Established in 2016 by Dr. David Katz, this Detroit-based company provides individuals with a clinically validated method for evaluating and managing their diets.
Competition and Judges
Diet ID faced competition from several other startups located in the Detroit metropolitan area, namely Rivet Work, Plain Sight, and FixMyCar. A panel of local investment professionals served as judges for the event.
The judging panel included Jim Tenzillo, Vice President at Invest Michigan; Dawn Batts, Capital Strategist at TechTown and co-founder of Commune Angels; and Ben Bernstein, a principal at Invest Detroit Ventures.

The event also incorporated presentations from prominent venture capitalists discussing fundraising strategies within Detroit’s startup landscape.
Jonathon Triest of Ludlow Ventures and Patti Glaza from Invest Detroit Ventures offered detailed insights into the expanding startup community in the region.
