dataloop raises $11m series a round for its ai data management platform

Dataloop, a company headquartered in Tel Aviv that focuses on providing comprehensive data lifecycle management solutions for artificial intelligence initiatives – including data set annotation – has announced a total funding of $16 million. This total encompasses an initial $5 million seed funding round that was not previously publicized, alongside a recently finalized $11 million Series A investment.

Amiti Ventures spearheaded the Series A funding round, with additional investment coming from F2 Venture Capital, the OurCrowd crowdfunding platform, NextLeap Ventures, and SeedIL Ventures.

“Numerous companies face challenges in deploying their AI and machine learning projects due to constraints in data labeling and the absence of real-time verification, which necessitates human involvement within the system,” explained Eran Shlomo, CEO of Dataloop. “This investment, alongside the support of our partners, will enable us to address these obstacles and deliver advanced data management tools poised to revolutionize the AI sector and satisfy the increasing need for innovation in worldwide markets.”

Dataloop primarily assists organizations in the management and annotation of their visual data. The company serves a diverse range of industries, including robotics, drone technology, retail, and the development of self-driving vehicles.

The core of the Dataloop platform is a “humans in the loop” approach, which enhances automated systems by allowing human operators to refine and improve model accuracy. It integrates a cloud-based annotation platform with a Python SDK and REST API for developers, plus a serverless Functions-as-a-Service environment built on a Kubernetes cluster to automate data processing.

Established in 2017, the company intends to utilize the newly acquired funds to expand its operations within the U.S. and European markets – a common strategy for Israeli startups – and to strengthen its engineering capabilities.
