Tylko Secures €22 Million in Series C Funding
Tylko, a Polish startup specializing in modular furniture and utilizing augmented reality in its sales process, has successfully completed a €22 million ($26 million) Series C funding round.
This investment was spearheaded by Pitango Growth, based in Israel, and Evli Growth Partners from Finland.
New Investors and Total Funding
Existing investors, TDJ Pitango and Experior Venture Fund, also participated in this round.
Notably, Brian Walker, formerly the CEO of Hermann Miller, and Mark Williamson, COO of MasterClass (U.S.), have joined as new investors.
Since its founding in 2015, Tylko has now raised a cumulative total of €33 million.
Future Expansion Plans
The company intends to more than double its current workforce of 140 employees.
Expansion into new markets is also planned, alongside a broadening of its product portfolio, which currently focuses solely on shelving units.
Direct-to-Consumer Model and Pandemic Growth
Tylko’s business model shares similarities with made.com, a pioneer in the direct-to-consumer furniture sector.
Like Made, Tylko operates on a “design-on-demand” principle, selling directly to consumers.
The company experienced a significant 132% increase in sales during 2020, capitalizing on the shift to online shopping during the pandemic.
Company Vision and Sustainability
Jacek Majewski, co-founder and co-CEO of Tylko, stated the company’s commitment to prioritizing user experience.
He emphasized the goal of creating products that are well-designed, high-quality, and sustainable.
Majewski believes that sustainability within the furniture industry can be achieved by offering desirable products that appeal to customers based on their features, rather than solely relying on certifications.
Parametric Design and Automated Manufacturing
Tylko’s furniture is created using “parametric design,” resulting in unique and individualized items.
The company’s platform automates the manufacturing process through its production partners.
Investor Perspectives
Mikko Kuitunen, Growth partner at Evli Growth Partners, highlighted Tylko’s exceptional growth and its position as a market leader.
He praised the company’s impact-driven vision and made-to-order business model as drivers of sustainability within the furniture market.
Rami Kalish, general managing partner & co-founder at Pitango Venture Capital, commented on Tylko’s ambitious vision to disrupt the furniture industry.
