OpenOffice and PDF Creation
A particularly impressive capability of OpenOffice is its ability to convert documents created in Writer directly into the PDF format with a single click. However, for those who prefer not to install the full OpenOffice suite, the open-source PDF Creator provides a viable alternative.
This standalone utility offers a convenient solution for users needing quick PDF conversions.
Using PDF Creator: Initial Steps
Begin by launching PDF Creator and navigating to the "Document Add" function.
When the file explorer window appears, ensure the filter is set to display "All files". The default setting is "PostScript Files". Then, double-click the document you wish to convert.
Default Printer Confirmation
A confirmation dialogue box will appear, requesting temporary designation of PDF Creator as the default printer. Select the option to prevent future prompts, and then click "OK".
Document Information and Saving
A subsequent dialogue box will prompt you to enter relevant information about the document. To immediately view the resulting PDF, check the box to open it with your default PDF viewer.
Finally, click "Save" to complete the conversion.
Confirming PDF Format
Verify that the document is being saved in PDF format.
