Configure SUSE for Internet Repositories - No CD/DVD Needed

Configuring openSUSE to Utilize Online Repositories
Following a standard installation of openSUSE via CD or DVD, the system is initially configured to prioritize software installations from the optical disc. However, for users with consistent internet connectivity, obtaining software updates and new packages directly from online repositories is generally preferable.
Accessing YaST for Configuration
To modify the software source settings, the YaST control center must be launched. This can be accomplished through the application menu, or alternatively, by executing the following command in an Alt+F2 prompt:
kdesu /sbin/yast2
Within YaST, navigate to the 'Software' module and then select 'Installation Source'. A list displaying the currently configured software sources will then be presented.
Typically, the CD/DVD source will be listed at the top of this list.
To activate or deactivate a specific source, simply utilize the 'Source Settings' drop-down menu and choose either 'Enable' or 'Disable' as appropriate.
Disabling the CD/DVD source and enabling the network repositories is recommended for ongoing system maintenance.
This ensures that the system prioritizes downloads from the internet, providing access to the latest software versions and security updates.

By making these adjustments, openSUSE will consistently leverage the benefits of online software repositories.
