Fizz Expands: College App Now Offers Grocery Delivery

Fizz App Integrates Gopuff for On-Demand Grocery Delivery
Fizz, the social application geared towards college students, is broadening its services to include grocery delivery through a new collaboration with Gopuff. This exclusive partnership, as reported by TechCrunch, will enable students to order a range of items – from late-night snacks to essential groceries – directly within the Fizz application, with delivery times as quick as 15 minutes.
About Fizz and its Growth
Established in 2021, Fizz currently operates on over 620 college campuses throughout the United States. To date, more than 27 million posts have been shared on the platform.
The platform facilitates anonymous connections between students attending the same university. Furthermore, Fizz incorporates a marketplace for local buying and selling of goods.
The Rationale Behind the Expansion
According to Fizz co-founder and CEO, Teddy Solomon, the integration of grocery delivery has been a frequently requested feature from users. This expansion was communicated to TechCrunch via email.
Solomon explained that students were already utilizing Fizz’s Marketplace to trade items and coordinate group food orders. Therefore, incorporating direct grocery delivery seemed a logical progression.
Why Gopuff?
The decision to partner with Gopuff was considered a natural alignment, given Gopuff’s origins and target demographic. Gopuff was also founded by college students and maintains significant popularity among younger consumers.
“Gopuff’s foundation by college students and its established campus presence created a clear synergy with Fizz,” Solomon stated. “We both resonate with Gen Z, and the potential of this partnership became evident quickly. Combining Fizz’s strong community reach with Gopuff’s rapid delivery capabilities will simplify student life.”
Enhanced Convenience and Curated Collections
While students previously had the option of ordering groceries directly through Gopuff, the new integration within Fizz offers increased convenience.
The Fizz Store also introduces pre-selected grocery collections designed to streamline shopping for specific needs. These include themed bundles like “Gym,” “Study Fuel,” and “Rush” bags.
Maintaining a Social Focus
Despite the addition of a marketplace and grocery delivery services, Fizz emphasizes that its core identity remains a social platform.
“While platforms like Instagram and TikTok prioritize entertainment – with only 7% of Instagram content originating from friends – Fizz continues to be a powerful hub for shared experiences and identities,” Solomon noted. “The Fizz Store is a natural extension of this core experience, reinforcing our mission to be the social app for aspects of life beyond Instagram and TikTok.”
Future Plans and Recent Achievements
Looking ahead, Solomon indicated that Fizz intends to continue expanding its reach to new campuses and markets. The company also plans to enhance its social features, with a continued emphasis on authenticity and community building.
In the last month, Fizz has reported a fourfold increase in daily active users, launched on over 250 additional campuses, and surpassed its single-day registration record for 12 consecutive days.
To date, the startup has secured $41 million in funding.
