ChatGPT Now Records Meetings & Integrates with Google Drive, Box

ChatGPT Enhancements for Business Users
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is receiving updates tailored for professional applications. These include integrations with various cloud platforms, capabilities for processing meeting recordings, and support for MCP (model context protocol) connections.
Expanded Cloud Service Integrations
The platform now features connectors for popular cloud storage solutions. These include Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive. This allows ChatGPT to access and analyze information stored within a user’s existing cloud ecosystem.
For example, a financial analyst could leverage company presentations and reports to formulate a comprehensive investment strategy.
Data Access and Security
OpenAI confirms that the new integrations will adhere to each organization’s established access control protocols. This ensures data security and compliance with existing permissions.
Meeting Recording and Summarization
A key addition is the ability to record and transcribe meetings. This functionality, increasingly common in productivity suites, generates notes with precise time-stamped references.
ChatGPT can also identify and suggest actionable items derived from meeting discussions. Users can then query these notes, similar to how they search through documents and files across connected services.
Furthermore, identified action items can be seamlessly transferred into a Canvas document, OpenAI’s collaborative workspace for writing and coding projects.
Competitive Landscape
This feature places ChatGPT in direct competition with platforms like ClickUp, Zoom, and Notion. These competitors have also recently incorporated transcription and meeting summarization tools into their offerings.
Deep Research Connectors in Beta
OpenAI is also introducing beta access to deep research connectors. These are available for HubSpot, Linear, and select tools from Microsoft and Google.
These connectors enable users to create detailed research reports. They leverage data from these sources, combined with information gathered from the web, through the Deep Research feature.
Currently, these connectors are accessible to all paying ChatGPT subscribers.
MCP Support for Enhanced Connectivity
The MCP (model context protocol) allows users to connect ChatGPT to a wider range of tools for in-depth research. This support will be rolled out to Pro, Team, and Enterprise users.
Strategic Focus on Enterprise Adoption
These enhancements demonstrate OpenAI’s commitment to increasing ChatGPT’s adoption within enterprise environments. The company is well-positioned to succeed in this endeavor.
While emerging companies like Notion and Context are developing AI-powered office tools with similar research and analysis capabilities, OpenAI benefits from a significant first-mover advantage.
Growing User Base
OpenAI currently boasts over three million subscribers to its enterprise-focused products. This represents an increase from the two million reported by COO Brad Lightcap in February.
