Change DHCP IP Range in VMware NAT - Easy Guide

Adjusting the DHCP IP Address Range in VMware Workstation

VMware Workstation provides a built-in network utility for managing virtual networks. Virtual machines commonly utilize NAT (Network Address Translation) to obtain a virtual IP address.

This process effectively conceals the virtual machine behind the host computer’s address. However, the standard IP range of 192.168.200.0/24 might not be suitable for all configurations.

Changing the NAT Network Address Range

The address range can be readily modified to accommodate specific network requirements. It’s important to ensure that no virtual machines are currently running before proceeding with this adjustment.

Begin by accessing the 'Manage Virtual Networks' option from the start menu. Then, navigate to the 'Host Virtual Network Mapping' tab.

Select the dropdown box adjacent to VMnet8 and click the arrow button. VMnet8 serves as the default NAT adapter within VMware Workstation.

Configuring the Subnet

Choosing the 'Subnet' option will display a dialog box. This allows you to define a new network range.

Within this dialog, you can specify the desired IP address range for your virtual network.

After entering the new network settings, confirm your changes by clicking either the 'OK' or 'Apply' buttons.

Allow a few moments for the system to implement the updated configuration.

The changes will then be reflected in the virtual network settings.
