TechCrunch Disrupt 2021: Startup Alley and Exclusive Master Classes

Startup Alley represents the central hub of activity at TechCrunch Disrupt 2021, scheduled for September 21-23. This highly sought-after expo area, now completely sold out, serves as a virtual platform for hundreds of groundbreaking startups to showcase their technology and expertise.

While participation in the expo provides significant benefits, a select group of 50 startups were chosen by the TechCrunch team in July to participate in the inaugural Startup Alley+ program, granting them a VIP experience.

Exclusive Master Class Series for Startup Alley+

This VIP experience incorporates a series of focused master classes leading up to Disrupt. For instance, on August 24th, Dan Olsen will be leading a master class entitled “How to Create Product-Market Fit.” We are now pleased to announce details of the next presentation in this series.

On August 17th, John Lynn, co-founder of CELA Innovation, and Jade Kearney, a Lean Startup specialist and co-founder and CEO of She Matters, will co-present a master class titled, “The Key Principles of the Lean Startup Methodology.”

CELA Innovation: Connecting Startups with Accelerators

A brief aside: For those unfamiliar with CELA Innovation, this New York City-based firm specializes in connecting early-stage startups with premier accelerators and incubators. These connections are made based on alignment between the startup’s industry and its overall business objectives.

At Disrupt 2020, CELA successfully linked the winners of our Pitchers and Pitches mini pitch-off competitions with an accelerator program designed to accelerate their business growth.

Navigating Change with the Lean Startup Methodology

Returning to the master class: Regardless of whether it’s positive or negative, change is an unavoidable aspect of business. This master class will equip founders with strategies for effectively responding to change when it arises.

These changes can encompass events such as securing funding, experiencing funding shortfalls, losing a co-founder, or the departure of a significant client – any disruption to the existing business landscape.

John and Jade will guide each participating founder in developing a Lean Startup transformation plan applicable to a current business challenge. This plan can then serve as a reusable model for future situations involving change.

Leveraging Inflection Points and Resource Optimization

The session will begin with an exploration of the benefits of utilizing the Lean Startup methodology during inflection points – periods of significant change, whether favorable or unfavorable, within a company.

Participants will discover how to employ this methodology to generate resources when facing overwhelming opportunities or feeling limited by current capabilities.

Furthermore, John and Jade will demonstrate how the Lean Startup methodology distinguishes between simply building what you think is needed and truly understanding the requirements of your customers, industry, and product.

Transforming Activities into Lean Startup Experiments

Finally, the CELA team will identify key business activities currently in practice. They will then lead participants through a process to convert these activities into Lean Startup experiments, generating valuable insights, new value propositions, and fresh opportunities.

TechCrunch Disrupt 2021 will be held from September 21-23. Don’t miss the chance to connect with the Startup Alley+ cohort and hundreds of other innovative startups within our expo area. Secure your TC Disrupt 2021 pass and seize the opportunity.
