Brave Enhances AI Search with Detailed Answers

The browser developer, Brave, announced on Monday the addition of a new capability to its Ask Brave AI-powered search suite.

This new feature is designed to deliver comprehensive responses to user queries, offering in-depth information on any given topic.

Coexistence with AI Answers

This latest addition will function alongside Brave’s existing AI Answers feature, which was launched previously.

AI Answers provides concise summaries in response to search requests; currently, it processes over 15 million answers daily.

Seamless User Experience

Utilizing Ask Brave doesn’t require navigating to a separate mode.

The search engine intelligently identifies the nature of the query and delivers an appropriate response automatically.

Initiating an Ask Brave Search

Users can begin a search by clicking the “ask” button located adjacent to the Brave search bar.

Alternatively, a standard search query can be transformed into an AI-driven search by selecting the “Ask” tab on the results page.

For those who have designated Brave as their default search engine, appending a double question mark (“??”) to a query will also initiate an Ask Brave search.

A Comprehensive Approach to AI Search

According to Josep M. Pujol, Chief of Search at Brave, “While AI Answers provide our users with rapid summaries, Ask Brave furnishes more extensive answers, follow-up options, and a chat interface enriched by Deep Research.”

He further emphasized the inclusion of contextually relevant content, such as videos, news, products, and businesses, presented at the optimal moment.

The combination of search capabilities and Large Language Models (LLMs) is expected to generate millions of additional daily AI-powered answers.

Report-Style Responses and Follow-Up Interactions

The response format generated by Ask Brave closely resembles the report-style output of platforms like ChatGPT or Perplexity.

This includes integrated links, video content, and image carousels.

Following the initial response, users can request the AI chatbot to reformat the answer or pose additional questions.

Underlying Technology and Accuracy

Brave utilizes its proprietary API to ensure the accuracy of search results.

Deep research techniques are also employed for specific queries.

The integration of AI-driven Q&A functionality is becoming increasingly prevalent across various search platforms.

Google has recently broadened the availability of its AI mode to include multiple languages, with a global rollout for Spanish occurring last week.

Brave’s offering distinguishes itself through a commitment to user privacy, encrypting chats and automatically deleting them after 24 hours of inactivity.
