As website owners, many of us rely on Google Analytics for valuable insights. However, the default reporting period of the last 30 days can be limiting when a focus on current-day data is desired. Checking today’s statistics requires manual date adjustments within the report.
Automating Today's View with a Bookmarklet
To streamline this process, a bookmarklet was created to automatically filter reports to display only today’s data. This tool can be customized for individual use with a simple modification.
The primary step involves replacing the placeholder ID within the bookmarklet code with the unique identifier for your specific Google Analytics account. This allows for quick access to daily performance metrics.
Furthermore, this approach enables the creation of multiple bookmarklets, each configured for a different Google Analytics account, offering enhanced organizational flexibility.
To begin, drag the following bookmarklet to your browser’s bookmarks bar:

Next, determine your Google Analytics account ID. Log in to your account and navigate to the main dashboard.
Locate the numerical ID following the "?id=" parameter in the URL and record it for later use.
Configuring the Bookmarklet
Open the properties of the newly added bookmarklet. (The following instructions are for Firefox, but a similar process applies in Internet Explorer.)
Within the location bar, find the section labeled "YOURIDHERE". Replace this placeholder with the Google Analytics account ID you previously saved.
