Sweep Launches Carbon Accounting & Offset Tool - Business Intelligence Experts

The Rise of Carbon Emission Tracking Software
For organizations striving to achieve ambitious goals in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, a precise understanding of their emission profile is paramount. Consequently, businesses are increasingly adopting solutions offered by companies such as Sweep, which recently announced its official commercial availability.
Sweep's Founding and Expertise
Based in Paris, Sweep benefits from a highly experienced founding team with a proven track record in enterprise software development. Co-founders Rachel Delacour and Nicolas Raspal previously established BIME Analytics, which was later acquired by Zendesk.
Alongside former Zendesk colleagues Raphael Güller and Yannick Chaze, and Renaud Bettin, the founder of the Net Zero Initiative, they have engineered a software suite.
This toolkit provides organizations with a clear and intuitive visualization of their own carbon emissions, as well as those generated throughout their supply chains.
Investor Confidence and Funding
The team’s background was a key factor in attracting early investment, notably from Pia d’Iribarne, co-founder and managing partner at New Wave. New Wave made its initial climate-focused investment in Sweep even before finalizing its fund.
“We committed to the investment prior to the fund’s closure,” d’Iribarne stated, noting the investment occurred in December or January.
New Wave was not alone in recognizing Sweep’s potential. The firm 2050, a European investment firm specializing in climate technologies, and La Famiglia, a fund connected to major European industrial entities, also participated in the funding round.
Additionally, several undisclosed angel investors from the Bay Area contributed to Sweep’s initial $5 million in funding, secured before the product’s beta launch.
Platform Capabilities and Features
Sweep empowers users to visualize each facet of their business – categorized by brand, location, product, or division – and assess its contribution to the company’s overall carbon footprint.
The platform also facilitates the connection to external suppliers and distributors, enabling the seamless sharing of carbon data.
Addressing the Urgency of Climate Action
The escalating impacts of climate change are driving companies across all sectors to prioritize emission reductions. However, current carbon management tools often lack the efficiency and connectivity needed to address the urgency of the situation.
Sweep distinguishes itself by integrating automation, connectivity, and collaboration into its core design.
This approach positions Sweep as a pioneering solution for effectively managing indirect Scope 3 emissions and transforming net-zero commitments into tangible results.
Carbon Offsetting Options
Similar to other carbon monitoring and management platforms, Sweep provides users with the ability to directly finance offset projects through its interface.
Currently, Sweep’s offsetting initiatives are primarily focused on forestry-based projects.
Industry Perspective and Future Growth
“Organizations globally are facing increasing pressure from stakeholders – including customers, investors, and regulators – to demonstrate progress in reducing emissions,” explained Pia d’Iribarne.
“This is fueling unprecedented growth in the climate technology market, a trend we anticipate will continue.”
She further emphasized that sustainability is no longer solely the responsibility of dedicated teams but has become a central business objective requiring CEO-level commitment.
“We invested in Sweep due to their exceptional expertise in sustainability and their proven ability to develop cutting-edge, comprehensive SaaS platforms. They represent the right team, with the right product, at the right moment.”
