Beyond Meat Expands Availability of Plant-Based Chicken Tenders

This summer saw the initial restaurant launch of Beyond Meat’s plant-based chicken tenders. Consumers will shortly have the opportunity to purchase these products for home consumption as Beyond Meat begins retail distribution.

Starting in October, the tenders will be available for $5 at Walmart and other prominent grocery retailers. Initial distribution will be limited to specific markets, with a planned expansion to broader areas later in the year.

Nutritional Benefits and Ingredients

According to the company, these tenders contain 50% less saturated fat compared to traditional chicken tenders. They are also formulated without GMOs, antibiotics, hormones, or cholesterol.

Beyond Meat utilizes faba beans in its recipe, diverging from soy-based alternatives, in its effort to closely mimic the flavor and texture of genuine chicken tenders. The pre-cooked tenders can be heated and ready to eat in less than 10 minutes.

Initial Retail Locations

Beyond’s tenders will initially be stocked at select Jewel-Osco, Safeway NorCal, Harris Teeter, Giant Foods, and ShopRite locations, alongside Walmart.

Furthermore, Beyond Meat is actively increasing the availability of its existing product line at Walmart. This includes expanding the distribution of Breakfast Sausage Patties to over 1,300 additional stores.

Increased availability will also be seen for Beyond Meatballs and Beyond Beef Crumbles across more Walmart locations.

Competitive Landscape

The plant-based meat alternative sector has experienced significant activity recently. Impossible Foods, a key competitor to Beyond Meat, launched its plant-based chicken nuggets in restaurants several weeks ago.

Impossible Foods has also announced plans to introduce its ground pork alternative to restaurant menus this fall.
