Creating a Backup Profile
Upon launching SyncBack for the first time, you'll be prompted to establish a backup profile. This is highly recommended, as the software supports both file synchronization and backup operations.
Distinct profiles can be created to accommodate diverse backup and synchronization requirements. For the purpose of this demonstration, we will focus on creating a backup profile.
Naming Your Profile
The next step involves assigning a descriptive name to the backup profile you are creating.
Specifying Backup Details
Now, the configuration phase begins. Several options are available for selecting the directory to be backed up, including or excluding subdirectories, and ignoring specific files.
For this demonstration, and assuming a typical home user scenario, simplicity is key. Simply designate the source directory and the desired storage location for the backup data.
Performing a Simulated Run
After completing your adjustments, you have the option to initiate a simulated run. This process does not actually back up any data but generates a report detailing the simulation's outcome.
If this is your first time using this profile, a simulation is advisable. A successful simulation will display a message similar to the one you'll receive during an actual backup.
Scheduling Backups
A particularly valuable feature is the ability to schedule backups without requiring a license purchase or resorting to Scheduled Tasks workarounds. Simply click the Schedule button and define the desired backup frequency and timing.
