B2Evolution: Run Multiple Blogs with This CMS Platform

The Dominance of WordPress and the Overlooked Alternatives
Currently, WordPress stands as the most popular platform for individuals initiating a new blog. While initial setup might require assistance for some, customizing the blog’s design and publishing content is remarkably straightforward.
Consequently, many users adopt WordPress and remain committed to it long-term.
The Issue of Platform Concentration
A significant trend towards a single platform, however, leads to the neglect of other capable Content Management Systems (CMS). Numerous high-quality alternatives often remain unexplored by the blogging community.
Beyond WordPress, platforms like Joomla and Drupal offer robust features. Additionally, simpler CMS options, such as gpEasy, cater to users seeking streamlined functionality.
Introducing B2Evolution: A Worthy Contender
One platform consistently underestimated, yet deserving of recognition, is B2Evolution. It distinguishes itself through a unique feature set and an intuitive user experience.
The platform offers a compelling alternative for those seeking a different approach to content management.
Key Benefits of Exploring Alternatives
- Diversification: Avoiding platform lock-in can provide greater flexibility.
- Feature Discovery: Different CMS platforms excel in specific areas.
- Optimized Workflow: Finding the right platform can enhance content creation efficiency.
Considering options beyond the most popular choice can lead to a more tailored and effective blogging experience.
Managing Multiple Blogs with a Single Platform
A frequent inquiry within blogging communities centers around the possibility of operating several WordPress blogs from a single installation. While achievable – according to reports, though potentially complex – the B2Evolution blogging platform natively supports multiple blogs during initial setup. There’s no need for intricate workarounds or challenging configurations; the blogs are readily available for immediate use.

My introduction to B2Evolution occurred early in my blogging journey, prior to my familiarity with WordPress. It was included with my web hosting package, and its installation process is comparable in ease to WordPress, as it also relies on PHP and an SQL database. As illustrated in the screenshot, I initially had five blogs prepared, though my primary focus remained on developing a single, default blog.

Creating posts across your blogs functions similarly to other advanced CMS platforms like WordPress or Drupal. However, B2Evolution displays all enabled and hosted blogs prominently at the top of the interface. Navigating between blogs and composing content for each is accomplished with a simple click.

The process of viewing posts for each blog mirrors that of other platforms. From a centralized page, you can efficiently access various post attributes, including comments and the publishing schedule. Furthermore, the blog settings are designed for simplicity, making them accessible even to novice bloggers.
Configuring the correct URL for each blog represents the most potentially complex aspect. Only one blog can be designated as the "default" when users access the index.php file. However, utilizing the "Absolute URL" field is possible if you have reserved a dedicated domain for each blog.

A key benefit of B2Evolution over WordPress lies in the intuitive nature of its blog configuration. Settings are clearly organized in a tabular format at the top, and switching between the settings of different blogs is achieved with a single mouse click.
B2Evolution Offers a Comprehensive Default Configuration
A significant advantage of B2Evolution is the extensive set of features included in its standard installation. These capabilities are often absent in the default setups of platforms like Wordpress or Drupal.

The platform’s extensibility is also noteworthy. A vast collection of skins and plugins is readily available, which is truly impressive. The B2Evolution website itself hosts hundreds of premium-quality skins – essentially blog themes – capable of dramatically altering your blog’s appearance in a short time.

Installation is streamlined; simply download the files to the themes directory and activate it through the administration panel. This process applies equally to plugins, which benefit from continuous updates and expansion due to a large and active community.

After installing a new dark-background theme, updating the title, and publishing initial posts, I was highly satisfied with the appearance of my first blog built on B2Evolution. The platform delivers a very professional feel, and the themes are generally formatted with greater clarity than many freely available WordPress themes.

A built-in comment section for each post is another beneficial feature present in the default B2Evolution installation.

Extending the functionality of your B2Evolution installation through plugins is a straightforward process. Download the plugin files to the "plugins" folder and activate it from the "App settings" page. Plugins are available for a wide range of integrations, including Twitter and Google Webmaster Tools.

If you seek a single installation capable of hosting multiple blogs, offering more default features and simplified configuration than Wordpress or similar platforms, and providing higher-quality free templates than many other CMS options, then B2Evolution is a strong contender. Its extensive features, large user base, and numerous extensions ensure it meets and exceeds expectations for a robust blogging experience.
