Raj Aggarwal Departs AWS to Pursue New Venture
Raj Aggarwal is set to depart from Amazon Web Services (AWS) following a tenure of almost three years. He held the position of General Manager for generative AI and revenue acceleration, as announced in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.
Aggarwal expressed his satisfaction with the innovative efforts of his team in the field of generative AI, noting their involvement from the technology’s initial stages. He stated, “Our team constructed what could be considered the world’s inaugural large-scale generative AI offerings.”
Key Achievements at AWS
These products were deployed to tens of thousands of sales professionals and utilized hundreds of thousands of times. The implementation resulted in a reported 4.9% improvement in pipeline generation.
His contributions were central to AWS’s recent expansion into generative AI. Aggarwal specifically highlighted his work on AWS’s foundational AI models, the Bedrock AI development platform, and the business-oriented AI assistant, Amazon Q.
Return to Entrepreneurship
Aggarwal intends to refocus on entrepreneurial endeavors and establish a new company. Details regarding this new venture were not disclosed in his announcement.
Prior to his time at AWS, Aggarwal demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial background. He founded Localytics, a mobile analytics and messaging platform, in 2009.
Previous Ventures
Localytics secured over $69 million in venture funding before being acquired by Upland BlueVenn in 2020. Aggarwal’s involvement with the company concluded in 2017.
Subsequently, in 2018, he launched Demand Sage, an AI-powered sales analytics platform. This platform successfully raised $3 million in venture capital before its acquisition by Snap in April 2021.
Following the acquisition, Aggarwal served as Head of Product and Growth within Snap’s R&D division until his transition to AWS in 2022.
