Numerous applications exist to streamline repetitive actions on computers. We’ve previously explored solutions like Wappwolf and IFTTT for online automation. AutomateIt extends this concept to Android platforms, enabling automation of smartphones and tablets.
This application facilitates the simplification of daily routines, contributes to battery conservation, accelerates frequently executed processes, and generally enhances user experience. For instance, it can manage GPS settings, disabling them for battery saving while automatically re-enabling them when using mapping applications.

Pre-Configured Automation Rules
Configuring numerous rules within an automation application can often be a time-consuming process, even when utilizing automated tools. However, AutomateIt streamlines this by offering a selection of pre-built rules. Similar to the functionality found in IFTTT, AutomateIt provides access to a marketplace of ready-to-use rules.
This marketplace contains hundreds of rules created by both developers and users, all freely available for download and implementation. It represents an ideal starting point for users, as a suitable rule may already exist, eliminating the need for redundant effort.
Exploring the Rules Marketplace
The marketplace allows browsing of recently added or popular rules. A search function is also available for targeted rule discovery.
Users can conduct searches based on keywords, but also refine results by specifying triggers – the events or conditions initiating a rule (like a battery level reaching 20%) – and actions – the responses executed when a trigger occurs (such as disabling data and Wi-Fi).
A review of the available rules reveals pre-made options, such as one that automatically disables Wi-Fi when the battery level drops to 6%. Downloading this existing rule is more efficient than building it from scratch.
An account creation is required upon the initial rule download, but subsequent downloads can be performed without further registration.
Utilizing and Modifying Rules
Downloaded rules can be used immediately, or customized to suit individual preferences. Adjustments can be made to parameters like the battery level trigger. Save the modified rule and return to the main screen.
Access "My Rules" to view a comprehensive list of both built-in and downloaded rules. Rules can be easily enabled or disabled as needed.
Selecting a rule provides options to toggle its status (On/Off), edit its configuration, execute it manually, or share it with others. The "Copy Rule" function allows users to duplicate an existing rule as a starting point for creating a new one.
Establishing Custom Automation Protocols
Naturally, there will be instances where pre-built solutions within the marketplace prove insufficient, or a preference for personalized control arises. For example, you might desire to temporarily suspend incoming phone calls – perhaps while driving, needing rest, or simply seeking uninterrupted time – without appearing discourteous to important contacts like family.
A rule can be configured to automatically send a text message to the caller, informing them of your intention to return their call at a later time. Initiate the process by tapping "Add Rule" on the main screen. Within the "Trigger" section, select "Call State Trigger" and then choose 'Incoming call' from the presented options.
Navigate downwards and deselect "All Contacts." Then, tap the contact icon and choose the specific contact whose call should activate the rule. Proceed to the "Action" section by tapping "Next," and compose the text message that will be automatically dispatched.
Specify the recipient's phone number for the message and tap "Next" once more. Assign a descriptive name to the rule and save your settings. A delay function is also available for the action, though we will forego its use at this time.
This type of rule is best suited for toggling on and off as needed. However, numerous other rules may benefit from continuous operation. AutomateIt is offered without cost, but certain features are restricted and advertisements are displayed.
