Atomized Lands Raises $500K to Accelerate Developer Infrastructure

Atomized Secures $500,000 Pre-Seed Funding
Atomized, a nascent startup focused on accelerating infrastructure deployment for developers, has announced the completion of its initial funding round. The company secured $500,000 in a pre-seed investment led by Zing Capital, Y Combinator, and a group of undisclosed angel investors.
Addressing Developer Bottlenecks
According to Nik Kotov, co-founder and CEO, developers currently dedicate over 20% of their time to infrastructure setup. This process is essential for running applications, but Kotov and his co-founder, Eddie Herbert (CTO), recognized the need for a more efficient solution. Consequently, they developed Atomized.
“Our primary objective with Atomized is to deliver a platform enabling rapid application deployment,” Kotov explained. “The system integrates directly with your code repository on GitHub and your cloud provider – currently AWS – to automatically provision all required infrastructure.”
Expanding Cloud Support
Currently, the platform automates the deployment of containers, databases, and static websites on AWS. However, the company intends to broaden its compatibility to encompass multiple cloud platforms as it evolves.
“We aim to abstract the complexities of Amazon, Azure, and GCP,” Kotov stated. “Our goal is to provide the simplest and most direct solution, eliminating the need to navigate intricate details.”
From Compliance to Infrastructure
Kotov initially participated in Y Combinator as a solo founder last summer, focusing on compliance infrastructure. Following Demo Day, he pivoted to the current infrastructure deployment solution and partnered with Herbert. Despite the change in direction, he considers the Y Combinator experience invaluable.
“YC significantly expanded my network, particularly as someone without pre-existing Silicon Valley connections,” he noted. “As an immigrant without a privileged background, I gained access to individuals previously beyond my reach.”
Charlotte, NC: A Growing Tech Hub
The company is strategically located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kotov highlights the city as an untapped resource for diverse technical talent.
“Charlotte presents an ideal environment for startup development due to its remarkable diversity,” he said. “With a 50% white population and the remainder comprised of Black or Latino individuals, we can attract top talent and foster inclusivity within the company.”
Current Status and Future Plans
Atomized is currently in beta, serving 60 customers. The newly acquired funding will be allocated to strategic hiring. The team currently consists of the two founders and two full-time engineers.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its engineering team and accelerate product development. This will allow Atomized to further refine its platform and broaden its cloud provider support.
