tvOS 26: Apple TV Gets 'Liquid Glass' & Profile Switching

Apple Announces tvOS 26 with Redesigned Interface

During its WWDC 2025 presentation on Monday, Apple unveiled an update to its Apple TV operating system, designated tvOS 26.

The update introduces a new visual style termed “Liquid Glass,” designed to provide a streamlined and “unobtrusive” experience for Apple TV users, according to the company.

Enhanced User Profile Access

A key improvement for users is the expedited access to individual user profiles. Upon waking from sleep mode, Apple TV will now display profile selections.

This feature allows each family member to swiftly choose their profile and resume playback of their preferred content.

Revamped Apple TV App and Control Center

The Apple TV application itself has been redesigned with updated poster art on the home screen.

This allows for a greater number of shows and movies to be showcased simultaneously.

The Control Center, used for functions like setting sleep timers and audio adjustments, has also been updated with the “Liquid Glass” aesthetic.

This design choice aims to maintain the video as the primary visual element during viewing.

Developer Tools and Simplified Logins

tvOS 26 also incorporates a new API for developers.

This API connects application logins directly to an Apple Account, streamlining the sign-in procedure for users when configuring a new device.

The new system simplifies the process of accessing apps and services.
