Apple Messages Polls: iOS 26 Update

Apple to Introduce Polls to Messages with iOS 26
During WWDC 2025 on Monday, Apple revealed that the Messages application will be gaining a polling feature in the forthcoming iOS 26 update.
This addition has been consistently requested by users and mirrors functionality already available on platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
Functionality and Use Cases
The new feature will empower users to conduct votes on various topics directly within group conversations.
Consider, for instance, the ability to establish a poll to determine the location for an upcoming brunch with friends, or to collectively decide on the next book selection for a reading group.
Integration with Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence will play a role in proactively suggesting poll creation based on the ongoing dialogue.
For example, if a message such as “What should we eat?” is sent, Apple Intelligence will offer to initiate a poll.
A Welcome Addition
Although not a revolutionary advancement, this feature represents a positive step for Apple.
It brings the Messages app in line with competing chat services and provides users with a more streamlined method for planning and making decisions within their group chats.
