Apple Fitness+ Updates: New Collections & Time to Run Series

Apple Fitness+ Enhancements: Collections and Time to Run
Apple Fitness+ is set to unveil a new “Collections” feature alongside the “Time to Run” series, beginning January 10th. These Collections represent a carefully selected sequence of workouts and meditations sourced from the extensive Fitness+ library. They are designed to assist users in achieving specific fitness objectives.
Introducing Collections
Drawing from a catalog of almost 2,000 workouts, this feature provides a novel approach to motivation for individuals starting new workout routines. Apple emphasizes that Collections will offer users a recommended training schedule, guiding their choices for optimal results.
The initial six Collections available at launch are: “30-Day Core Challenge,” “Improve Your Posture with Pilates,” “Perfect Your Yoga Balance Poses,” “Run Your First 5K,” “Strengthen Your Back, Stretch Your Hips” and “Wind Down for a Better Bedtime.”
Time to Run: An Audio Running Experience
Apple’s “Time to Run” series builds upon the success of last year’s “Time to Walk” feature. This new series is described as an immersive audio experience crafted to help users cultivate consistency and improve their running performance.
Each episode centers around a well-known running route and incorporates coaching advice delivered by a Fitness+ trainer. Complementing the coaching are curated playlists, synchronized to the run’s intensity, location, and the trainer’s guidance. Furthermore, each episode showcases photographs of the route captured by the Fitness+ trainer.
The series debuts with three episodes: London, led by Cory Wharton-Malcolm; Brooklyn, guided by Emily Fayette; and Miami Beach, coached by Sam Sanchez. New episodes will be released weekly on Mondays.
For Apple Watch users who utilize a wheelchair, “Time to Run” automatically transforms into “Time to Run or Push,” offering the option to initiate an “Outdoor Push Running Pace” workout.
Expanding Content Offerings
“As a new year begins, we recognize that many individuals are seeking fresh avenues to pursue their goals,” stated Jay Blahnik, Apple’s vice president of fitness technologies. “With these additions, Fitness+ simplifies the process of staying motivated and active, offering the most comprehensive library of premium, diverse content to nurture both mind and body, regardless of your fitness level.”
Alongside Collections and Time to Run, launching on January 10th, Apple is introducing the third season of Time to Walk. This series encourages increased physical activity through walking, and will feature new guests added each week.
Notable guests in the upcoming season include Hasan Minhaj, Chelsea Handler, Bernice A. King, and others.
Artist Spotlight and Subscription Details
Fitness+ is also enriching its Artist Spotlight series, dedicating entire workout playlists to individual artists. New workouts will feature music from Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, Shakira, and the Beatles, spanning various workout types like cycling, dance, HIIT, strength, treadmill, and yoga.
Apple initially launched Fitness+ on December 14, 2020, and has since been actively competing with other subscription-based fitness services, such as Peloton.
Fitness+ is available as a standalone subscription for $9.99 per month, or as part of the Apple One Premier plan for $29.95 per month. The Apple One Premier plan also includes access to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+ and iCloud+ with 2TB of storage.
