TechCrunch Disrupt 2021 Startup Battlefield Companies

TechCrunch Announces 20 Startups for Startup Battlefield 2021
TechCrunch is pleased to reveal the 20 startups that will be presenting their ventures on stage during this year’s Startup Battlefield. Chosen from a record number of applicants, founders representing diverse global locations will participate in pitches delivered on a virtual platform at TechCrunch Disrupt 2021.
These startups will contend for $100,000 in equity-free funding, alongside gaining visibility from prominent international media outlets and leading investors.
Exceptional Cohort with a Low Acceptance Rate
Boasting an acceptance rate of just over 1.5%, the startups selected for this year’s competition are truly exceptional. The cohort showcases innovation across a wide spectrum of industries.
Areas of focus include lithium battery chemical recycling, intelligent media solutions, blockchain infrastructure, student-focused educational tools, Sub-Saharan African fintech solutions, and the production of cultured meat.
Groundbreaking advancements are also present in agtech, women’s genetics, lifestyle-based therapeutics, cybersecurity, laser technology, fintech, and consumer hardware.
Focus on Impactful Technologies and Unicorn Potential
TechCrunch intentionally seeks companies from a variety of sectors. It is evident that this generation of founders is dedicated to not only building highly valued companies – potential unicorns – but also to developing technologies with significant positive impact.
A notable trend within this group is the increased representation of companies operating in the health tech/medtech and clean tech/sustainability spaces.
Pitch Preparation and Judging Process
Each founder has received training from the Startup Battlefield team to refine their pitch, develop compelling narratives, and optimize their launch strategies.
They have also worked to strengthen their go-to-market approaches and prepare impressive live product demonstrations for attendees. Each team will be allocated six minutes for their pitch, followed by a six-minute Q&A session with a panel of judges comprised of VC experts and leaders from successful companies.
On Thursday, a select number of startups will advance to the Startup Battlefield Final Round, judged by a new panel of industry experts.
