Amazon Music Introduces AI-Powered Artist Discovery with "Explore"
Amazon Music revealed on Tuesday the commencement of testing for a novel, AI-driven search capability known as “Explore.” This feature is specifically engineered to enhance the experience of fans seeking deeper insights into the artists they enjoy.
Accessing and Utilizing the Explore Feature
To access this functionality, users simply need to tap the “Find” button, located at the bottom of the application interface. Subsequently, they can input the name of an artist into the search field.
Selecting the “Explore” tab, positioned in the upper left corner, unlocks a wealth of information regarding the artist.
Information Provided by the Explore Feature
- Discover collaborations with fellow musicians.
- Uncover related artists that users may not have previously encountered.
- Access highlights from the artist’s complete recorded works (discography).
For instance, a search for Jelly Roll will utilize the AI to highlight significant collaborations, such as his duet with Lainey Wilson on the track “Save Me.”
Promotion of Exclusive Content
This new feature also serves as a platform for Amazon Music to showcase its exclusive original content.
An example of this is Jelly Roll’s unique rendition of “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” which features a collaboration with T-Pain, available only on the platform.
Integration with Maestro and AI Playlists
Users are also presented with the opportunity to generate playlists curated by artificial intelligence.
Last year, Amazon Music launched Maestro, its counterpart to Spotify’s AI DJ, as part of its broader strategy to gain a competitive edge in the streaming market.
The integration of Maestro into the Explore feature is likely intended to drive greater user adoption of the AI playlist functionality.

The introduction of Explore appears geared towards increasing user engagement and fostering stronger connections with artists.
This launch follows a recent price adjustment to Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions, an increase of $1.
This suggests a deliberate effort to justify the new subscription cost of $11 by offering an appealing and innovative feature.
Limited Beta Release
The Explore feature is currently being deployed to a select group of Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers within the United States, exclusively through the iOS application.
It’s important to note that this beta release is initially limited to information on approximately 10,000 artists, including prominent names like Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK.
