Amazon Bazaar: New Low-Price Shopping App Launched

Amazon Launches Amazon Bazaar: A New Shopping Destination
On Friday, Amazon revealed the launch of Amazon Bazaar, a dedicated, budget-friendly shopping platform. This new destination is specifically targeted towards customers in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and operates independently from the primary Amazon shopping application.
Affordable Pricing and Availability
A significant aspect of Bazaar is its pricing structure. The majority of products are priced under $10, with select items available for as little as $2, according to the retailer.
Currently, the platform is accessible via a dedicated application for both Android and iOS devices. It is available in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Nigeria.
Amazon intends to expand access to additional markets in the coming months.
Relationship to Amazon Haul
The Amazon Bazaar app shares considerable similarities with Amazon Haul, which debuted last November. Haul was initially created to compete with platforms like Shein and Temu.
Haul will continue to function as an integral part of Amazon’s main website and app, remaining available in existing markets such as the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Australia.
In certain regions, Amazon had previously rebranded Amazon Haul as Bazaar, integrating it within the main Amazon shopping app. This version will also remain accessible in Mexico, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and India.
(Amazon’s utilization of dual names for the same value-priced inventory may cause confusion. However, Amazon believes these distinct names will more effectively align with local linguistic preferences and cultural nuances.)
Competition and Target Audience
The creation of a standalone shopping platform for lower-priced goods demonstrates Amazon’s increased focus on competing with budget-focused Chinese shopping applications. These include Temu, Shein, and TikTok Shop, which have gained substantial traction among younger demographics and consumers with limited disposable income.
Amazon Bazaar will provide users with “hundreds of thousands” of reasonably priced products spanning categories like fashion, home goods, and lifestyle items.
Product listings will incorporate familiar Amazon features, such as customer reviews and star ratings.
Payment, Shipping, and Support
Customers can utilize their existing Amazon login credentials for shopping and checkout. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
To qualify for complimentary shipping, orders must meet the minimum purchase requirement specific to each local market. A standard delivery charge applies to orders below this threshold.
Delivery times are estimated to be approximately two weeks or less. Returns are accepted free of charge within 15 days of receipt, and Amazon provides customer support in multiple languages.
Interactive Features and Incentives
The app will incorporate engaging features, such as social lucky draws and promotional offers, inspired by popular Chinese shopping applications.
New users will receive a 50% discount on their initial delivery as an incentive to explore the platform.
The application supports six languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Traditional Chinese.
