Certain careers, particularly those valuing creativity, may benefit from a more unconventional resume. However, for the majority of professions, a straightforward and professional presentation is preferred. This doesn’t necessitate a dull resume; it simply requires a focus on clear communication.
Like a compelling narrative, your resume should captivate the interviewer, leaving a positive and lasting impression. The aim is to create a document that is engaging and encourages further review.

There are, however, instances where employers may request references concurrently with the resume submission. In such cases, providing three pertinent references aligned with the specific job application is advisable.

This remains an exception to the rule, though. For standard resumes distributed during networking or publicly available online, excluding references is recommended. Allowing employers to request them creates an additional touchpoint.
