Airbnb Cancels DC Bookings for Inauguration Week - What You Need to Know

Airbnb has announced it will not accommodate guests in Washington DC during the period surrounding the Presidential Inauguration, according to a company announcement.
Brian Chesky, the company’s CEO, used Twitter to publicly affirm this decision on Wednesday, coinciding with the ongoing Congressional proceedings for a second impeachment of President Donald Trump.
This decision to implement a complete prohibition on rentals and temporarily suspend Airbnb operations in and near DC prior to the Inauguration follows the company’s earlier pledge to scrutinize existing reservations. This review was undertaken to prevent individuals involved in the previous week’s events at the Capitol from utilizing the platform to travel back to the area leading up to the Inauguration.
