Fireflies AI: New Features for Meeting Note Insights

Fireflies.ai Launches Domain-Specific Mini Apps for Automated Meeting Insights
Fireflies.ai, an AI-driven note-taking application supported by Khosla Ventures, has announced the release of a suite of specialized “mini apps” designed to automatically derive valuable insights from meeting transcripts.
Growth in the Meeting Intelligence Space
The increasing accessibility of automatic speech recognition and generative AI technologies has fueled significant expansion for meeting intelligence companies. Startups such as Otter, Read AI, Circleback, Krisp, and Granola have all experienced substantial growth.
Similarly, Fireflies has witnessed an eightfold increase in its user base and has achieved profitability, as stated by co-founder and CEO Krish Ramineni.
Expanding Functionality with Over 200 Mini Apps
To further accelerate its growth trajectory, the company is introducing more than 200 mini apps within its platform. These apps cater to a diverse range of roles and applications, including sales, marketing, recruiting, operations, management, customer support, and customer success.
Examples of Specialized Mini Apps
The BANT Sales App, for instance, is designed to extract crucial sales information like budget details and project timelines.
For customer service teams, the Agent Performance Feedback Generator provides performance insights and targeted coaching recommendations.
Additionally, the Product Launch Planning App assists in the development of comprehensive product launch strategies.
Simplifying Insight Extraction
While tools like Circleback currently require users to formulate prompts to extract insights from meeting transcripts, Fireflies aims to streamline this process by eliminating the need for prompting with its new mini apps.
Boosting Productivity Through Automation
“A considerable amount of time is often spent obtaining insights from conversations following meetings,” explained Ramineni to TechCrunch. “Our goal is to bridge this gap with these apps, enabling Fireflies to initiate actions immediately after a meeting and enhance overall productivity.”
Seamless Integration with Popular Platforms
Users have the option to send the outputs generated by these mini apps to other platforms via integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Asana, Jira, BambooHR, Greenhouse, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
For example, a meeting facilitator can automatically share a meeting summary with their manager on Slack upon the meeting’s conclusion.
Customization and Collaboration
Fireflies allows users to deploy these apps on a per-meeting basis and also provides the capability to create custom apps for tailored outputs. The company plans to enable users to share these apps within their respective groups in the future.
Future Developments: Meeting Briefs and Digital Twins
Beyond the mini apps, Fireflies is focused on enhancing meeting knowledge through the introduction of meeting briefs, which will provide users with information about attendees and organizations involved.
Ramineni also mentioned that the company is currently testing the integration of “digital twins” of users into meetings, allowing them to respond to basic inquiries, mirroring similar initiatives explored by platforms like Zoom.
