Steve Isakowitz of Aerospace to Speak at TC Sessions: Space 2020

With just two weeks to go, we are excited to begin TC Sessions: Space (December 16 & 17), our inaugural event dedicated to the technologies expanding the horizons of space exploration and the innovators behind them. Developing thriving space initiatives – be they governmental, commercial, or a blend of both – necessitates a highly skilled workforce, both currently and for years to come. We are particularly looking forward to “Building the Workforce of the Future,” a featured panel discussion with Steve Isakowitz.
Mr. Isakowitz serves as the president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation, a national nonprofit operating a federally funded research and development center. The organization concentrates on tackling intricate challenges within the space sector, emphasizing adaptability, groundbreaking ideas, and impartial technical guidance.
Throughout his extensive 30-year career, Isakowitz has held significant positions within government, the private sector, and the space and technology industries, including roles at NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the White House Office of Management and Budget. Before assuming his current role, he was the president of Virgin Galactic, overseeing the advancement of privately financed launch systems, cutting-edge technologies, and other novel space applications.
“Building the Workforce of the Future” will address the requirements for maintaining the United States’ leadership in space, specifically focusing on cultivating a workforce prepared to meet the challenges ahead. Joining Isakowitz on the panel are Dava Newman, MIT’s Apollo Program Professor of Astronautics, and Yannis C. Yortsos, Dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and former Zohrab Kaprielian Chair in Engineering at the University of Southern California.
The COVID-19 pandemic has spurred consideration of innovative approaches to training the next generation of scientists and engineers, as well as where that training takes place. This session will examine how academic institutions and industry can collaborate to incorporate practical experience into educational programs and how they can jointly establish strong talent pipelines to produce digitally proficient, adaptable professionals for the future.
The panelists will also discuss methods for fostering diverse workforces – incorporating a range of viewpoints and backgrounds to stimulate innovation – and new strategies to encourage ongoing professional development throughout individuals’ careers.
A substantial and continuous supply of engineers and scientists is crucial for the space industry. Don’t miss “Building the Workforce of the Future” to hear the latest insights on this critical subject. It’s a session you won’t want to overlook.
Registration is still open, with remaining tickets available. Discounts are offered for groups, students, active military/government personnel, and early-stage space startup founders seeking increased visibility for their companies.
