Photoshop Android Beta: Adobe Launches App for Mobile Editing

Photoshop Mobile Now Available on Android
Android users are now able to download Photoshop for mobile devices. Adobe officially announced on Tuesday the release of a beta version of its Photoshop application for Android, following the launch of its iPhone app four months prior.
Similar Tools, Mobile Optimization
The application provides a comparable suite of editing functionalities to its desktop counterpart, encompassing features like layering and masking, but is specifically optimized for smaller mobile screens.
During the initial beta testing phase, access to the app’s full range of features will be provided at no cost to users.
Key Features and Capabilities
Users will be able to seamlessly combine and blend images utilizing tools such as selections, layers, and masks. The app also incorporates AI-powered features, including “Generative Fill,” enabling users to add or modify image elements.
Quick removal or replacement of image sections is facilitated by the “Tap Select” tool. Furthermore, users gain access to a library of royalty-free Adobe Stock assets.
Control over layers and effects is achieved through blend modes and adjustment layers.
Refinement and Selection Tools
Distractions within images can be eliminated using the “Spot Healing Brush.” Images can be further refined with the “Remove” and “Clone Stamp” tools.
Precise selections are made possible through the “Object Select” and “Magic Wand” functionalities.
Future Updates Planned
Adobe has indicated plans to introduce additional capabilities to the application in the near future.
Expanding User Base
By extending Photoshop to mobile platforms, Adobe aims to attract a wider audience, particularly younger demographics accustomed to mobile-based creative workflows.
For existing Photoshop users, the mobile app offers increased accessibility for those who prefer working on their smartphones.
System Requirements
The Photoshop beta for Android is currently available on devices running Android 11 or later, requiring a minimum of 6GB of RAM. Adobe recommends 8GB or more for optimal performance.
Differences from iPhone Launch
In contrast to the iPhone application, which launched with both free and subscription-based features, the Android beta is initially fully accessible.
Subscription Details
Upon general release, access to the app’s premium features and Photoshop on the web will be available through a $7.99 monthly subscription. Current Photoshop paid plans already include mobile access.
