Adobe AI: New Features in Creative Cloud

Adobe Deepens AI Integration Across Creative Cloud Suite
Over recent years, Adobe has significantly invested in artificial intelligence technologies. This commitment is prominently showcased in the latest updates announced at this year’s MAX conference. The Sensei AI platform now powers enhancements across nearly all Adobe products.
Photoshop Enhancements: Streamlined Selection and Color Transfer
Precise object selection in Photoshop has historically been a challenge for users. While tools like the “magic wand” often fell short, Adobe introduced the AI-powered object selection tool last year. Now, the company is unveiling auto-masking, which further automates this process by intelligently identifying objects within an image.
Adobe acknowledges that this feature is still evolving and won’t immediately detect every element perfectly. However, they assure users that its accuracy will improve with continued development.

Last year saw the introduction of neural filters, enabling tasks like colorizing black and white photos, enhancing portraits, and applying depth blur or zoom effects. These filters leverage neural networks to automatically recreate image details.

For example, a dull foreground can be revitalized with the vibrant greens of another landscape, seamlessly transferring the desired style.

The depth blur feature, previously available, has been refined to allow users to adjust the focal distance post-capture. This results in a more polished and professional look compared to the earlier iteration.
Lightroom users can now also benefit from a new feature that automatically selects the sky within an image, with the option to invert the selection to target everything else.
Alongside these AI-driven improvements, Lightroom introduces a new “Remix” tab within the Discover section. This facilitates sharing work among photographers and allows others to view and modify edits.
Premiere Pro’s AI-Powered Audio Remixing
For video editors, Adobe is integrating an AI feature into Premiere Pro that automatically adjusts the length of music clips to match the duration of a video sequence. Initially available in Adobe Audition, this “Remix” feature prevents abrupt song endings when a sequence is shortened.

Adobe is also launching Creative Cloud Web, a new hub for accessing, organizing, and sharing files and libraries online. Currently in private beta, it supports Fresco, Illustrator, XD, and Photoshop.
This platform provides a real-time collaboration space where teams can add text, stickers, and images to assets. It’s important to note that this is not a web-based version of Photoshop or XD, but rather a dedicated space for project discussion and asset management.

Basic editing tools are also being added to web-based versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, expanding accessibility and workflow options.
Adobe’s AI Strategy and Competitive Landscape
These updates demonstrate Adobe’s substantial investment in AI to simplify workflows for both professional creatives and hobbyists. While competitors like Skylum’s Luminar AI have prioritized AI as a core focus, Adobe’s strength lies in the comprehensive nature of its Creative Cloud suite.
Replicating the breadth of Adobe’s feature set presents a significant challenge for any new entrant into the market.
