Remember The Milk in Gmail: Add a Task Pane in Chrome

Remember The Milk Integration with Gmail
Remember The Milk stands as a highly utilized to-do list service among many users. The Remember The Milk for Gmail extension introduces a dedicated RTM Task Pane directly within Gmail, accessible through the Google Chrome browser.
Installation and Configuration
Prior to finalizing the installation, confirmation of the process is required. Simply click “Install” to successfully add the extension to your Chrome browser.
It’s worth noting that while the extension page specifies a requirement for U.S. English language settings, we experienced no issues utilizing a British English configuration.
Upon adding the extension, a brief confirmation message will appear. There are no immediate in-browser settings to adjust on the Chrome Extensions page.
Immediately after opening Gmail, the Remember The Milk Task Pane will be available for use.
A new “Tasks Area” will also be added to your account’s settings. You can enable or disable settings to customize the interaction between the Remember The Milk Task Pane and your Google account.
Please note that the default settings are displayed in the image.
Using Remember The Milk for Gmail
When your browser window is maximized, you’ll have ample space for your task list.
Here’s a closer look at the “Task View Drop-Down Menu”.
And here’s what’s available within the “Options Menu”.
Hovering your mouse over a specific task will display a popup window containing task details. From here, you can mark the task as complete, postpone it, or access further options through the “More Menu”.
To create a new task, simply enter it into the text field and press “Enter”.
The new task will be instantly added to your list.
The default time setting for tasks is “Today”, but this can be modified within the “Tasks Area” in Gmail’s settings.
Hovering over our newly added task revealed the associated details, and clicking the “Notes Link” opened the task in a new tab.
Within the new tab, you can add any relevant notes, tags, URLs, or other information to the task.
Another feature we appreciated was the ability to collapse categories you aren’t currently viewing. Focusing solely on your “Today Category” allows you to minimize it as tasks are completed. An uncluttered “Today List” provides a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
Conclusion
If you’ve been delaying a switch to Google Chrome to maintain access to the Remember The Milk Task Pane within Gmail, that wait is now over.
