Adapty Launches Web-Based Revenue Solution for App Developers

Adapty Launches FunnelFox to Bypass App Store Fees
Recently, app developers have voiced increasing concerns regarding the fees imposed by Apple and Google for distribution through the App Store and Play Store. Many app creators feel these companies create obstacles to earning revenue outside of their established ecosystems.
Adapty, a New York-based app revenue management platform, is addressing this issue with its new product, FunnelFox. This offering is designed to facilitate customer acquisition through websites and web applications.
How FunnelFox Works
The core concept of FunnelFox is straightforward. It empowers app developers to construct quizzes or interactive experiences on the web to attract and onboard new users.
Upon completing a payment through these web-based channels, customers receive a direct link to download the app. This approach allows app makers to circumvent the substantial app store taxes, which can reach up to 30%.
The Genesis of FunnelFox
“Approximately a year ago, discussions with our key revenue tracking product users revealed that a significant portion of their customer base was acquired through web-based acquisition funnels built in-house,” explained Adapty CEO Vitaly Davydov in an interview with TechCrunch.
“Recognizing this as a substantial opportunity, we decided to develop FunnelFox to simplify the creation of these web funnels for all users.”
Early Results and Revenue Tracking
Adapty has been beta testing FunnelFox with a select group of over 100 customers for more than a year.
During this period, the company reported tracking $20 million in revenue generated through the platform. Customers experienced a doubling of revenue compared to direct revenue from in-app purchases within mobile applications.
Features and AI Integration
FunnelFox features a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface for building customer acquisition quizzes.
Furthermore, the platform incorporates an AI component capable of suggesting relevant questions based on the app's App Store or Play Store link.
Adapty’s Comprehensive Suite
Adapty’s business is built around two primary components:
- An SDK assisting app developers with subscription management.
- A platform enabling marketers to target audiences and analyze customer lifetime value.
FunnelFox represents the newest addition to this suite of tools.
Importantly, customers can utilize FunnelFox independently of Adapty, even while employing alternative app revenue tracking solutions like RevenueCat.
Pricing and Revenue Model
FunnelFox operates on a revenue-sharing model, with Adapty taking a percentage of user acquisitions.
The company intends to implement tiered pricing plans for FunnelFox, though specific details have not yet been disclosed.
Financial Status and Future Plans
Adapty has secured $2.5 million in funding and currently operates profitably, according to Davydov.
While not actively seeking additional funding, the company remains open to exploring potential fundraising opportunities.
Currently, Adapty supports 10,000 applications and tracks an annual revenue of $1.2 billion. This represents a significant increase from the 2,500 apps tracked in 2022.
The company is experiencing consistent growth in both the number of applications supported and the total revenue tracked.
The Role of AI in Adapty’s Future
Adapty plans to integrate more AI capabilities into its products.
Specifically, the company aims to leverage AI to assist app developers in creating payment screens optimized for higher conversion rates, offering suggestions for design and pricing strategies.
