Need Quick Access to Online Document & Image Tools?
Do you ever require a rapid modification to a document, spreadsheet, presentation, or image, yet lack access to standard software packages? A convenient solution is now available with Open IT Online.
The following file types are compatible with Open IT Online:
- Documents (.doc, .docx, .rtf, .odt, .sxw)
- Spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx, .csv, .ods, .sxc)
- Presentations (.ppt, .pptx, .pps, .odp, .sxi)
- Images (.jpg, .gif, .png)
Setting Up Open IT Online
Please note: The screenshots provided demonstrate the installation process for the Firefox extension of Open IT Online.
Upon installing the extension and restarting Firefox, a Configuration Wizard will be presented to you.
The second window allows for straightforward selection of the primary services you wish to utilize for documents and images. The default configuration is shown, and advancement to the Advanced Settings or further steps requires an image service selection.
After choosing an image service, accessing the Advanced Settings is recommended for granular control over service assignments for specific document and image types. Otherwise, click “Next” to proceed to the final configuration window.

Select the desired online services for your documents.

Specify services for different spreadsheet document types.

Configure services for your presentation documents.

Determine which online services will be used for your images.

After customizing online service choices for both document and image types, acceptance of the Terms Of Use is required to complete the configuration. Click “Finish” to close the Configuration Window.

Post-Setup Wizard
Following the closure of the Configuration Window, the “new install” page for Open IT Online will appear. This page provides fundamental information and announces the ability to save files online via Box.net.

Open IT Online Options
Changes to the configuration can be made easily through the Options Window. The first Tab Area allows selection of where to open online services and adjustments to Interface Integration.

The second Tab Area enables modification of online service choices for documents.

Adjust settings for spreadsheets within the third Tab Area.

Make necessary changes for presentations in the fourth Tab Area.

Modify image services in the final Tab Area.

Access via the Tools Menu
Open IT Online can be accessed through the Tools Menu if required.

Open IT Online in Use
Utilize the Right Click Menu to access Open IT Online. This example demonstrates its use with an image.

When using the Save or Save As commands, you will encounter a window presenting multiple options for the desired action. This example shows the interface when working with a Microsoft Word document.

It is worth noting that, during testing, the Internet Explorer Lite version exhibited fewer functions and options compared to the Firefox version.
