Truecaller Reaches 450M Monthly Active Users

Truecaller Surpasses 450 Million Users
Truecaller, the caller identification application, recently achieved a significant milestone by exceeding 450 million users globally. This growth reflects the app’s continued popularity and utility for individuals seeking to identify and manage incoming calls.
Recent User Acquisition
The company reported adding 50 million users over the last ten months. Furthermore, an additional 15.5 million users joined the platform since the start of 2025, demonstrating consistent expansion.
India as a Key Market
India represents Truecaller’s largest user base. Consequently, the appointment of Rishit Jhunjhunwala to the position of CEO was a logical progression.
Jhunjhunwala previously served as chief product officer and MD of India operations. His promotion followed the decision of the company’s co-founders to reduce their involvement in daily operations.
Global Growth Beyond India
While India remains a crucial market, Truecaller is experiencing substantial growth in other regions worldwide. The company is actively expanding its reach and user base internationally.
According to Jhunjhunwala, strong growth trends are currently observed in Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the United States.
Potential Challenges in India
Truecaller’s dominance in India may face challenges. The country’s telecom department is advocating for the implementation of a domestically developed caller ID system.
This government-backed initiative could potentially compete with Truecaller’s established product and services.
Financial Performance
Throughout the fourth quarter of 2024, Truecaller maintained an active user base of approximately 430 million. The company’s financial results for the quarter ending December were positive.
Net sales increased by 23% year-over-year, and profit after tax rose by 29% during the same period. The company’s stock has also seen a significant increase, rising more than 33% year-to-date.
Improvements to iOS Integration
Earlier in 2025, Truecaller enhanced its caller ID functionality for iOS devices. Prior to this update, limitations imposed by Apple’s operating system resulted in a less comprehensive live caller ID experience compared to the Android version.
Expanding Beyond Caller ID
Truecaller is diversifying its offerings beyond basic caller ID services. The company has introduced features such as call recording, transcription, and an AI-powered assistant for call screening.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to improve the platform’s capabilities as an SMS and chat client, aiming to provide a more integrated communication experience.
