TikTok Launches New Q&A Feature for Enhanced Creator-Audience Interaction

A new Q&A functionality has been rolled out globally by TikTok, allowing content creators to directly address questions from their audience through both text and video responses. Officially named TikTok Q&A, this feature provides creators with tools to designate comments as questions, deliver answers via text or video, and incorporate a dedicated Q&A link into their profile bios.

Evolution from Existing Practices

The introduction of TikTok Q&A stems from established creator behaviors on the platform. Previously, viewers frequently posed follow-up inquiries after video posts. Creators typically responded within the comments section or created subsequent videos to provide more detailed explanations.

This new feature streamlines this interaction, offering a more organized method for creators – especially those with substantial followings – to pinpoint and respond to the most pertinent questions.

Viewers can now mark their comments as official Q&A questions by utilizing a new option within the commenting interface. Selecting the Q&A icon beside the text entry field will label the comment accordingly, displaying “Asked by” followed by the user’s name. This visual cue assists creators in identifying questions while reviewing comments.

All submitted questions and their corresponding answers are compiled on a dedicated Q&A page accessible to both creators and viewers. This centralized location allows users to browse past interactions and submit new inquiries.

Creators maintain the flexibility to respond to Q&A questions using either text-based replies or video responses, mirroring their previous methods.

Furthermore, Q&A comments can be incorporated as stickers within video responses, linking back to the original question post – a functionality similar to existing comment stickers.

Integration with TikTok LIVE

The Q&A feature extends to TikTok LIVE streams, providing creators with a separate panel to view incoming questions directly within the live chat.

Creators can now add a Q&A profile link to their bios, directing users to the organized Q&A page. This provides a central hub for all question-and-answer content.

Initially, the feature was limited to creators with public accounts exceeding 10,000 followers who actively opted in. Now, TikTok has expanded access to all users possessing Creator Accounts.

To activate the feature, navigate to the privacy settings under “Settings,” select “Creator,” tap “Q&A,” and then toggle “Turn on Q&A.” Users without a Creator Account can enable it within the settings menu.

The update is currently being deployed to users globally through the latest version of the TikTok application.
