SpaceX Continues Starlink Expansion with Latest Launch

SpaceX has successfully deployed another set of Starlink satellites, increasing the orbital constellation by 60 units. This represents the 24th dedicated Starlink launch to date.

Currently, over 1,500 Starlink spacecraft have been launched, with approximately 1,438 remaining operational in orbit.

A Notable Gap Between Launches

This recent deployment marks the first Starlink launch since April 7th. Interestingly, this constitutes the longest interval between such launches experienced recently.

Focus on Network Growth and Availability

Throughout this year, SpaceX’s launch schedule has been largely centered around Starlink missions. The company is actively working to broaden the reach, enhance the quality, and improve the overall coverage of its low Earth orbit (LEO) broadband internet service.

SpaceX has also expanded the accessibility of Starlink services. Presently, limitations appear to be primarily related to the supply of consumer receiver terminals, rather than network capacity or regional deployment capabilities.

Recent Activities Beyond Starlink

The brief pause in Starlink launches doesn't indicate inactivity from SpaceX. The company recently launched a second crew of astronauts to the International Space Station.

Furthermore, two or three additional Starlink launches are currently planned for the month of May.

Launch Details

The latest launch originated from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 11:44 PM EDT (8:44 PM PDT) on Wednesday. A previously flown Falcon 9 first-stage booster was utilized for this mission.

This particular booster has a proven track record, having been employed on six prior missions, including four dedicated Starlink deployments.
