Salesforce Enters the Vibe-Coding Arena with Agentforce Vibes

Technology leader Salesforce is actively pursuing advancements in vibe-coding – a paradigm where developers articulate desired functionality in natural language, and artificial intelligence constructs the corresponding code – through its newly unveiled AI-driven developer instrument.

Introducing Agentforce Vibes

On Wednesday, Salesforce formally introduced its innovative vibe-coding solution, Agentforce Vibes. This novel tool is designed to empower developers to work with greater autonomy on Salesforce applications and agents, automating a significant portion of the technical implementation process.

Agentforce Vibes facilitates the development lifecycle, spanning from initial app conceptualization through construction and ongoing observability, all while incorporating robust enterprise-grade security and governance protocols.

Vibe Codey: The AI Coding Agent

Central to this new offering is an autonomous AI coding agent, designated Vibe Codey. This agent seamlessly integrates with a company’s pre-existing Salesforce environment, enabling it to leverage previously written code and adhere to established coding standards.

This integration ensures the creation of applications that align with existing product offerings and maintain consistency across the Salesforce ecosystem.

Benefits of a Connected Ecosystem

Dan Fernandez, Vice President of Product for Developer Services at Salesforce, explained to TechCrunch that connecting Agentforce Vibes to a company’s existing Salesforce account provides a balanced approach.

It allows organizations to explore the potential of vibe-coding without compromising security or necessitating a complete restart for each new project.

Lowering the Barrier to Entry

“Our aim is to provide a comprehensive solution,” Fernandez stated. “Instead of dedicating substantial time to configuring model context protocols – systems that facilitate secure communication between AI models and external resources – or setting up development environments and tools, everything is pre-configured and readily available, including AI request mechanisms.”

“This represents a key differentiator in our efforts to simplify access and accelerate development.”

Expanding Salesforce’s AI Developer Tool Suite

Fernandez clarified that this launch isn’t Salesforce’s initial venture into vibe-coding, but rather a logical extension of its expanding portfolio of AI-powered developer tools.

The company initially released an AI-assisted code building tool in 2023, followed by the general availability announcement of Agentforce for developers at its Dreamforce conference last year.

A Unified Development Experience

Now, these elements are converging to create a cohesive and streamlined development experience.

“We are integrating the capabilities of our client tools and Agentforce for developers, specifically tailoring them to Salesforce development,” Fernandez elaborated. “This delivers a complete end-to-end experience for enterprise vibe-coding within an agentic enterprise framework.”

Built on Open Source Foundations

These new functionalities are based on a derivative of the open-source AI coding agent, Cline’s Visual Studio Code Extension.

The company evaluated numerous open-source coding tools before selecting Cline, largely due to its robust support for MCP – the ability for AI models to securely interact with external tools and data.

The Evolving Vibe-Coding Landscape

This release occurs during a period of significant activity within the vibe-coding industry.

Numerous vibe-coding startups are securing substantial funding rounds at impressive valuations from investors. For instance, Vibe-coding startup Lovable is reportedly declining unsolicited investment offers after achieving a $1.8 billion valuation just eight months after its launch.

Rapid Growth and Potential Challenges

Another vibe-coding startup, Anything, recently reported reaching $2 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) a mere two weeks after its initial launch.

However, despite the current enthusiasm, the long-term viability of these platforms remains uncertain. High volumes of large language model usage, essential for operating these platforms, translate into substantial costs and potentially narrow profit margins, as reported by TechCrunch in August.

A Sustainable Approach

These cost considerations are less critical when vibe-coding is integrated into a broader product suite, as is the case with Salesforce’s Agentforce Vibes.

Usage and Pricing

Each Salesforce organization receives 50 requests per organization per day utilizing OpenAI’s GPT-5 model, with additional requests processed through a Salesforce-hosted Qwen 3.0 model.

Currently, Agentforce Vibes is available to existing users at no cost, with the introduction of priced usage plans anticipated in the future.
