Opera Brings AI Assistant Aria to Opera Mini on Android

Opera, the browser developer headquartered in Norway, has announced the integration of its Aria AI assistant into the Opera Mini browser for Android devices.

AI-Powered Features in Opera Mini

Aria AI empowers users to access current news and information across a wide range of subjects. It also facilitates deeper learning and enables the creation of images directly within the browser.

To deliver pertinent responses, Opera leverages a combination of AI models sourced from both OpenAI and Google.

Opera's Vision for AI Integration

“The incorporation of Aria into Opera Mini represents a logical progression, as AI is increasingly central to the everyday online experience,” stated Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera.

He further added, “We are enthusiastic about investigating how AI can further refine the functionalities our users depend on daily with the addition of our integrated AI.”

Data Savings Remain a Priority

Launched in 2005, Opera Mini is designed to minimize data consumption during web browsing. The company asserts that the new AI assistant will not compromise this core functionality or increase the application's size.

Opera Mini's Extensive User Base

Opera Mini has surpassed one billion downloads on Android. Globally, the browser boasts a user base exceeding 100 million individuals.

Recent data from Appfigures, an app analytics firm, indicates that Opera Mini has recorded 7.1 million downloads worldwide in the current year.

Expanding AI Capabilities Across Opera Products

Beyond the launch of Aria, Opera is actively exploring other AI-driven features. These include utilizing natural language prompts for tab management and developing an autonomous task completion operator.

These experiments demonstrate Opera’s commitment to integrating AI throughout its suite of applications.
