mHmm Enterprise Accounts & Windows Beta - mmhmm

Mmhmm Introduces Usage-Based Enterprise Accounts
The software, mmhmm, which enables users to customize their visual presence during video conversations, has announced the availability of new usage-based enterprise accounts.
Demand for Enterprise Solutions
Founder and CEO Phil Libin shared in an interview with TechCrunch that this development represents a logical progression for the platform.
He noted that mmhmm has already received hundreds of registrations originating from individuals within the same organizations.
Branding and Centralized Management
“The need for enterprise accounts became readily apparent,” Libin explained. “This is driven by the desire for streamlined central management, ensuring ease of use, and maintaining consistent branding.”
Companies across various sectors are increasingly recognizing video communication as an integral component of modern business practices, and therefore require a branded experience.
Pricing Structure
The pricing for enterprise accounts mirrors that of individual Pro accounts, costing $10 per month or $100 annually.
However, organizations utilizing enterprise accounts will only be billed for the number of users actively engaging with mmhmm each month, eliminating the need to purchase unused licenses.
Enhanced Features for Enterprises
Enterprise accounts also facilitate the sharing of design system assets tailored specifically for mmhmm, ensuring brand consistency.
Furthermore, administrators can manage employee accounts centrally, invite users via a direct link, verify an email domain, and receive a consolidated invoice.
Promising Conversion Rates
Libin also provided insight into the company’s financial performance, stating that the conversion rate to Pro accounts is currently exceeding that of Evernote, a previous venture he led.
Growth with Platform Usage
He elaborated that, similar to mmhmm and Evernote, the probability of a user upgrading to a premium subscription increases with prolonged platform engagement.
With Evernote, the upgrade rate was 0.5% after the first month, rising to 5% by the end of the first year, and reaching 12% after two years.
Outperforming Evernote
While mmhmm lacks the extensive 24-month data set of Evernote, its current performance is ten times greater.
Focus on User Experience
Despite these encouraging figures, Libin emphasized that revenue is not the primary focus.
The company prioritizes a seamless onboarding experience for new users and ensuring they fully grasp the platform’s capabilities.
To this end, mmhmm is launching new interactive tutorial videos to enhance user awareness of available features.
Platform Expansion
Mmhmm initially debuted in a closed beta during the summer of last year, subsequently opening to all Mac users in November 2020.
Concurrently with the enterprise account launch, mmhmm is also releasing a Windows version of the application in open beta.
Navigating Growth Challenges
Libin acknowledged that mmhmm is currently in a growth phase and, drawing on his experience founding five companies, identified talent acquisition and retention as the most significant challenges.
“Having navigated hyper-growth stages in previous startups, I recognize the difficulty of attracting and retaining talent while fostering their professional development,” he stated.
“I am applying lessons learned from past experiences to mitigate these challenges.”
Correction
Note: A previous iteration of this article contained an inaccuracy regarding the release status of the Windows version of mmhmm. It has been corrected to reflect its availability in open beta.
