Movies Anywhere Enhances Digital Movie Libraries with AI-Powered Organization

Movies Anywhere, a platform designed to consolidate digital movie collections from multiple providers, is introducing a new functionality aimed at improving library management. The company has launched “My Lists,” an AI-driven feature that automatically categorizes films based on diverse criteria – encompassing genre, cast members, franchise affiliation, thematic elements, and more.

Streamlined Browsing for Extensive Collections

This feature is particularly beneficial for users with substantial digital movie libraries. It transforms the browsing experience, making it resemble the personalized recommendations found on contemporary streaming platforms, such as Netflix. Instead of navigating lengthy lists sorted by purchase date or alphabetically, users can now explore content organized in a more intuitive and discoverable manner.

For instance, all films belonging to a specific franchise will now be grouped together on a dedicated row. This represents a significant improvement over the previous method, where franchise titles were interspersed among other purchases.

Discovering Hidden Gems Within Your Library

The AI may also reveal that you possess a considerable number of movies within a particular genre, like “Action Thrillers,” or centered around a common theme, such as “strong female friendships.” This can greatly assist in selecting a film for movie night.

These automatically generated lists are fully customizable. Users have the ability to modify lists by adding or removing titles, or even deleting entire lists as desired.

Beyond the automated lists, users can also create their own custom lists. This allows for further organization based on personal preferences, such as favorite films, movies suitable for family viewing, or any other desired categorization. The feature can even be utilized to create a “to watch” list for purchased movies that haven’t yet been viewed.

A Unified Digital Movie Experience

The Movies Anywhere application has been available for several years and is currently co-managed by Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and 20th Century Fox, following a platform migration in 2017. Its primary advantage for digital movie enthusiasts is the ability to access all purchased movies from various services in a single location.

This includes digital downloads from iTunes, Vudu, Prime Video, YouTube, Xfinity, and others. Previously, determining ownership of a specific title required navigating between multiple applications.

Continuous Improvement and New Features

“My Lists” is the latest in a series of enhancements implemented to maintain the app’s relevance. Last year, the company introduced Screen Pass, a digital movie lending feature, and previously launched Watch Together, enabling co-viewing with up to nine friends.

Availability

The new “My Lists” feature is now available within the Movies Anywhere mobile app, desktop application, and on streaming devices via the navigation bar.
